Lab-grown diamonds are coming to town!
Share
Lab-grown diamonds have appeared in our displays at Bijouterie Lepage and I want to introduce them to you!
What is a lab-grown diamond?
It is a so-called synthetic diamond that has the same physical, chemical and optical properties as a diamond extracted from the ground of a mine. However, it is developed in a highly controlled laboratory that uses innovative technology that reproduces the conditions in which natural diamond is developed.
How is a lab diamond made?
Step 1: A tiny carbon diamond seed is placed in a growth chamber.
Step: With extreme heat and pressure from the chamber, the diamond is created from this seed.
Step 3: After 3 to 4 weeks, the diamond is created.
Step 4: The diamond is ready to be cut and polished.
Is a lab diamond considered a real diamond?
Lab diamond is structurally and optically the same as mined diamond. It is identical to natural diamond, sharing the same physical, chemical and optical properties as its natural counterpart. When you buy a lab diamond, you receive a certificate identifying it as lab-grown 😉
What is the price difference between a lab diamond and a natural diamond?
Given technological improvements, lab-grown diamonds can cost 30 to 40% less than natural diamonds. And like natural diamonds, the cost of a lab-grown diamond will vary depending on its size, color, clarity, and cut.
Another advantage of lab-grown diamonds is that you can control their traceability, production methods and environmental impact. The lab-grown diamonds that we present at Bijouterie Lepage are produced in Quebec, which limits the number of intermediaries through whom the jewelry goes before reaching you. Rings, earrings and even pendants! You will find magnificent jewelry that will make you dream! 🙂
