The creative process
The creative process of an artist is one of the most fascinating aspects of a collection, as each artist has their own way of approaching their artistic practice.
Creativity is subjective, deeply personal, and sometimes difficult to capture consistently. Many artists keep their minds artistically stimulated by going for walks, going to museums, or reading!
For the designer of Pier Joaillerie jewelry, each of the previous collections came to life thanks to the inspiration that was born thanks to a theme, a shape or even a set of colors. Despite a few years of suffering from writer's block combined with a busy schedule, a more than full family life and the daily worries of life, inspiration came without too much trouble once the creative muscle was put back into action.
In the case of the Vertige collection, it's different. Even though the sketchbook was filling up with images, there seemed to be an element that was blocking the creative impulse, a persistent, destabilizing feeling.
The inspiration of the collection
The Vertige collection was finally born when the jeweler let this emotion that inhabited her express itself in her art, without shame. For an artist, no matter the medium with which he expresses himself, letting his emotions speak means in some way laying oneself bare, agreeing to let go and express oneself in all simplicity, without artifice.
"The Vertige collection represents the life that upsets us to the point of making us lose control. It is the cohabitation of our dark and light sides. Vertige is the acceptance of liberating letting go, it is the instinct that guides us even when fear gnaws at us."
A minimal color palette
The contrast between the moment when we experience upheaval and our moments of calm is also represented in the lines and colours of the collection.
Vertige is composed of a luminous shade represented by a textured gold and a contrasting dark color, black, which can destabilize us as much as it can reassure us.
Each piece is hand painted, directly with acrylic on the metal and covered with epoxy resin to fix the colors. The emphasis was placed on the simplicity of the lines and colors to represent the power of raw emotion, without artifice.
